Constipation
Constipation, the most common gastrointestinal complaint in the U.S., is characterized by infrequent bowel movements. Normal bathroom habits can mean different things to different people. A daily bowel movement is not a regular event in everybody's life. Some people may have three a day while others may have three a week. In general, you are considered to be constipated if you defecate fewer than three times in a week and pass hard, dry stools. However, some constipation sufferers are more bothered by straining and discomfort during defecation than by the reduced frequency of bowel movements.

Chronic refers to something that continues or persists over an extended period of time. A chronic condition is usually long-lasting and does not easily or quickly go away. Chronic is the opposite of acute.

Lichen simplex chronicus
Lichen simplex chronicus (LSC), also known as neurodermatitis circumscripta, is an itchy skin condition causing thickened skin at the areas of skin injured by repeated scratching and rubbing. Lichen simplex chronicus is not a primary disease but rather the skin's response to chronic physical injury (trauma). The gradual thickening of skin, caused by repetitive scratching and rubbing, is called lichenification.

Neurodermatitis
A patch of skin itches, so you scratch it. But scratching can make the area itchier, so you keep scratching. Eventually you may scratch simply out of habit.
